Beautiful Beginnings, Shared Fully
Guided by Love & Intension
My journey to designing wedding ceremonies, starts with my own. The theme of our wedding was “Turi Kumwe,” one of my favorite Rwandan phrases meaning, We are together. After nine years together, our we wanted our wedding to be a meaningful way to bring our families, friends and cultures together. Living in Pennsylvania we opted for a Self-Uniting wedding certificate based on the Quaker faith. Our outdoor ceremony was truly unique, bringing together different aspects our lived experience and what life we wanted to build for our future. Instead of having an alter, we gathered in a circle which felt more natural to us. From the moment our parents brought each of us into the circle, symbolizing their support bringing us into the world -where we circled each other several times (to Michahel Fronti’s One Step Closer to You) to a series of meaningful ceremonies representing our families, faiths, and futures, and our leaving the circle together married, each moment was created and design with love and intension.
Three years later friends of ours asked me to officiate their wedding and I was so honored, I got an officiant certificate and learned more about wedding ceremonies and design. They chose for a traditional flow for their ceremony to help emphasize the legitimacy of their marriage and relationship to their families. We designed a sweet and simple ceremony, guided by their incredible love of adventures and each other. It was important that everyone walked away knowing that two people couldn’t be any better suited for a lifetime together.
Since then, I’ve officiated, designed and consulted countless wedding ceremonies. People come to me most often when they want to celebrate the uniqueness of their relationships. I specialize in inter-faith and inter-cultural weddings, helping to ensure that the couple designs the ceremony of their dreams but that everyone feels truly invested in their marriage.
Weddings are wonderful, but the memories, the love and the support seeded in these sacred moments are what marriages draw up on for years to come.
