About Maggie Rwakazina

Growing up in western Pennsylvania, surrounded by the pristine rivers of northern Appalachia and the bubbling brooks of the Allegheny National Forest, I learned when to listen deeply and when to stand up to protect others.  From organizing my first protest in fifth grade (“Eat No Hair!”) to launching an Earth Club at age seven to save the Spotted Salamanders crossing my road each spring, I’ve always been guided by a deep love of earth, humanity, and community.

Over the past two decades, I’ve worked across sectors—as a public servant, technical and collaborative consultant, systems strategist, funder, and coalition builder—supporting local leaders, national networks, and bold, community-rooted experiments in change. Most recently, I helped launch and lead Spring Point Partners’ water equity portfolio, helping double the investment to women- and BIPOC-led water organizations across the country. It was a privilege to support a community of impact leaders learn from each other and build a collaborative ecosystem.

I founded Ripples to Rise to help steward the next wave of leadership—supporting the people and partnerships that make change possible. My work is grounded in:

  • Relational trust

  • Courageous collaboration

  • (Eco)Systems thinking

  • Equity

  • Deep care

Whether I’m facilitating a strategy session, designing a convening, or advising a funder, I bring an ecologist’s lens, a personal touch, and a commitment to justice that’s personal, not just professional.

I’m a mother of two boys, a partner, and lifelong learner. I bring the same head-and-heart skills to sacred moments as a wedding officiant and ceremony designer as I do to my professional work: deep listening, distilling values, asking thoughtful questions, and creating space for reflection.

When I’m not working, I’m coordinating the chaos of motherhood or listening to an audiobook. To rest and recharge, I enjoy playing in natural bodies of water and exploring nature and new cultures.
